Navigation Patterns and Web Font Plug-in

  • Responsive Navigation Patterns - pretty insightful writeup on the number of different ways people are handling navigation solutions in terms of responsive design hurdles. I'm partial to the Left Nav Flyout but can't disagree with the cons listed. Lots to think about. via Mr. Jardine.
  • Web Font Plug-in - pretty brilliant little plugin to give you access to WebINK and Google Fonts right inside Photoshop. It's not like you couldn't just download and install the fonts as well but this certainly makes it a lot easier and dynamic to new additions to each repository. Neat! via Daniel.

  • Great article on responsive navigation. It's definitely a tricky one. We recently launched a responsive website that had a huge navigation and used a mixture of these ideas. http://www.sleeptrain.com The top nav closes on mobile, then you click to open, but the sub pages are down in the footer creating a "drill-down" effect for each sub section. Time will tell if the ideal solution, but it was the only effective way we could come up with to keep all the content organized.
