Outbox

A Beautiful Inbox For Postal Mail

It was bound to happen eventually - the Internet is now revolutionizing snail mail. Outbox is a new service that picks up your mail, scans it and lets you manage it like email. You can request specific items still be delivered to your door but, otherwise, you're done with checking the mailbox. I don't know if I view physical mail as enough of a hassle to spend $5/month to get it on my iPad but I am willing to bet some people do feel that way. Maybe you're one of them? Check out the great intro video to get familiar with exactly what they're offering.

  • This is absolutely terrible. I'm all for ending junk mail, but services like this and PaperKarma seem like great fronts for data cartels. Don't want junk mail? Call the company's circulation dept and tell them to remove your name from the list. It's worked wonders for me. Specific to this service- they're opening ALL OF YOUR MAIL. Do you really want a stranger looking at your mortgage statement? What about your health records? I guess this is the American way. Too lazy to do something for yourself? Hire someone to do it for you! Sigh- sleeping really takes a lot of time out of my day. Maybe I can hire someone to sleep for me.
