The Untold Truth Of Chris Gaines

I have a healthy(ish) obsession with Chris Gaines, the pop star alter ego of Garth Brooks that crashed and burned in the late 90's. The whole thing was a baffling move by a country artist that was, undeniably, at the top of his game. It's such a fascinating topic because I also understand the desire to make such a move - ultimately Brooks desired to be seen outside of the Country realm. Or maybe he just wanted to have a fun side project (plenty of others have done this).

So, of course, when I see a piece called The Untold Truth of Chris Gaines, I am locked in. It's a nice overview of the entire undertaking if you're not familiar with it and I hope this leads the way to a proper Oral History of Chris Gaines from all those involved.

Let this also serve as a reminder of the Garth Brooks / Chris Gaines Countdown, just 421 days at time of this posting until the 20th anniversary of when Brooks and Gaines hosted SNL together as one.
