The Mute Group, Abuses & Supersitions

posted October 4, 2018 #

TLDR: Band releases artful new music vide. I enjoy it.

My introduction to The Mute Group was their video for "Brainplate in Eb" - an enigmatic undertaking with a modern art vibe. I didn't understand it per se but I liked it.

Fittingly, they've just released a new video for "Abuses & Superstitions," another track off their forthcoming album Sinister Hand. The video is performed in one take and equally as enigmatic as the previous. For me, it feels like a Renaissance painting mixed with an early 90's REM video. There's meaning here in the character choices, the placement, the interactions and the repetition but it may be up to the viewer to decipher what those meanings are.

It's an ambiguity that I respect and greatly enjoy as it makes the experience wholly your own.
