When Chad suggests to check out a band I tend to listen. His latest contribution to my musical lexicon is The DoDos - a San Francisco duo making great things. The basic elements are acoustic guitar and drums but they manage to keep the energy level high and never delve into the aggravating realm of self indulgent singer-songwriter. I've read comparisons to Animal Collective with less emphasis on the crazy and more emphasis on the traditional / folk leanings but I think that's only due to the fact that they aren't yelping in every other song and the drums have the same driving force in both bands.

Live they were every bit as energetic as they come across on record and I recommend attempting to catch them in your area if you have the chance. If that's not an option you can pick up their new album Visiter or the previous record (the only one I've heard top to bottom) Beware of Maniacs.
