The 10-year Anniversary Of Itunes

posted April 26, 2013 #

Find a moment or two today to read through this Grantland article on Ten Years in the Digital Ether, a look at Record Store Day, the waning practice of downloading and some quality pontification on where music consumption is headed. I love this little positive silver lining near the end:
The stubborn survival (and even modest revival) of vinyl suggests there's a segment of music fans who still prefer the pleasures of traditional ownership over the portability and practicality of digital music. People continue to buy vinyl records because they enjoy the process of buying and playing vinyl records. I wonder if there's a similar constituency for downloads.
