Something New From XOXO

The duo of Andy's behind XOXO Festival - Andy Baio and Andy McMillan - have partnered with Kickstarter to start a new company aimed at helping independent artists make a living. Both the XOXO announcement and the Kickstarter announcement give some broad strokes of the newly formed company but the details themselves are still being well formed.

High level, Kickstarter's current creator funding program, Drip, will be slowly shifted into whatever this new thing is that the Andy's are creating. Even higher level, it sounds like an alternative version of Patreon. That's clearly an oversimplification because the thing doesn't even exist yet, so who knows what it will be - but a platform that creates a way for artists to make income on a regular basis has some overlap there.

All that is to say, I don't know what this thing will be. I don't know if anyone knows exactly what it will be yet but I'm excited for something new from the founders of XOXO and feel confident that their mission will be fulfilled.
