Self, Ornament and Crime Vinyl
posted June 20, 2017 #
Way back in 2003, Self recorded thirty some-odd songs for Dreamworks Records, as the intended follow-up to their previous release Breakfast with Girls. Around this time, Universal Music Group bought Dreamworks and the album never saw the light of day. Sometime in 2009, digital versions of the songs showed up but there's never been an officially sanctioned version of it. Until now of course...
Fourteen years after it's original slated release, Ornament & Crime will be released on vinyl, digital and CD via El Camino Media. You can pre-order it here. Oh, and they're also re-issuing all of the b-sides - entitled Porno, Mint & Grime - as an additional double record.
I've been listening to this band since 1995, twenty-two years, and still find pleasure in these songs so I'm glad to see that they're finally getting their proper release. If you need a good starting point for the new album, go here.
