RIP David Bowie

Like many, I am surprised and saddened to hear about the passing of David Bowie. While I've never been an obsessive fan I do have several experiences that tie directly to his creations and his influences that will forever stick with me. I think that's the most strikingly impressive portion of his life, just how many people it reached.
Personally, I remember a time staying in San Francisco for an extended stay and familiarized myself with the Trent Reznor or inspiring Flight of the Conchords or including Klaus Nomi in performances or being a GoblinKing weirdo, there's an endless list of goodness to attribute to him that's not even his music.
His reach was far and wide and I thank him for it.

His reach was far and wide and I thank him for it.
- Life on Mars - his most known look, if you didn't know.
- I'm Afraid of Americans - this song was, really, my first encounter with Bowie. Probably not considered his best work by most hardcore fans but I always really appreciated it.
- Flight of the Conchords: Bowie - Jemaine Clement's Bowie always struck me as heartfelt and perfectly hilarious.
- Bowie SNL - one of the background singers is Klaus Nomi, further evidence that Bowie always had his finger on the pulse of weirdos.
- Bowie on Extras - "pathetic little fat man." Amazing.
- Rick and Morty "Moonmen" - another, slightly lesser known, appearance of Jemaine Clement impersonating Bowie.
- Peter Schiling - Major Tom (Coming Home) - I assume this song is actually mistaken for Bowie on occasion.
- Bowie Best Of - Disc 1 - just in case you needed a homebase for your Bowie needs, this seems like as good of a place to start as any.
