pop-ups

posted August 25, 2003 #

I remember when pop-up ads were killing my browsing experience. Two or three seperate little windows hiding themselves behind the main browser just waiting to reveal themselves at a later time. Yea, that was annoying but I can not begin to express my loathing for the DHTML / Flash ads that have reared their ugly heads on a ton of sites recently. They just decide to overlay themselves on top of all of the content and be as intrusive as possible. Sufficed to say, this is lightyears worse than pop-under ads. I understand the web needs advertising but I can't begin to comprehend the decision makers who thought it would be a wise idea to startle, annoy, and frustrate their customers - as well as hide the content that people are coming to their site for in the first place.
