Makeup and Vanity Set has been insanely production as of late. I don't know if launching his
subscription offering inspired him to make more or if the subscription offering was launched because he was being so prolific but, whatever the reason, he's been outputting a lot of new music lately and it's actually
interesting. Being prolific doesn't always equate to being worthwhile but, in this case, he's firing on all cylinders.
The latest release, the EP
Run, is a companion piece to the previous
PRIS EP. They are atmospheric with elements of synthwave but he's exploring new instrumentation, which changes the vibe entirely. Listen to the slow build of "
The Apartment" and it's meandering piano solo or "
Choke", which has familiar tones from
Trackless (an "odd" release in and of itself for him).
