I had seen the art of Matt Furie before but somehow managed to miss dive full-on into his site. I love the amount of detail and that the majority of work sort of gives me the vibe of the craziness and over-the-topness of childhood. There are many nods to nostaligic elements of the past - Falcor, Freddy, etc - but it works. It's not done in a way that it's exploitative or used because of lack of any other ideas - it's just genuinely interesting. I love this piece depicting a bird resembling Skeletor riding a crow.

So, kudos to Matt Furie for his style and skill and boo to me for not checking it out in depth earlier.
