LOST: Missing Pieces

Apparently ABC is running a series of webisodes for LOST called Missing Pieces that contain quick interactions between characters during unspecified portions of the overall LOST timeline. These vignettes reveal nothing in terms of the grand scheme of things and don't seem to be that well written (see: "Hurley and Frogurt"). So, what's the point? Apparently anything related to LOST is enough to get people watching, even if it's a complete waste of time. And is it even necessary to tease people for an upcoming show that only has half of its episodes filmed?
