Learning by osmosis - Garfield was right

So it seems those crazy scientists actually have "infected" bacteria with information. Interestingly this was done to perserve information even after nuclear attack - and even more interesting is the fact that the book I'm currently reading approaches the same concern (though Lem's solution is quite different).
