King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard

One of my favorite musical discoveries of the year is King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, an Australian psych-rock band with possibly the best band name this decade has known. Initially I was drawn into their collab album with Mild High Club, Sketches of Brunswick East. This turned out to be one of their more subdued releases but served as a great entry point into more of their catalog.
Their latest, Polygondwanaland, is their fourth full-length album of the year. The first single, "Crumbling Castle", is an 11-minute epic with one of the best 80's effects videos I've seen, period.
The album is free and according to their site, free to distribute. They provide digital, CD and vinyl masters. If you want to do a press run, have at it. Pretty remarkable approach if you ask me.
The band has releases dating back to 2011, so I'm not exactly on the cutting edge of new music discovery but I'm loving what I'm hearing and, hopefully, that's all that matters.
