Jeff Leonard, Programmable Fine Art

I'm fascinated by the fine art work of Jeff Leonard for two primary reasons. First and foremost, the result of his efforts is beautiful and chaotic. Even when there is a pattern to be found, there's a madness to it that I find appealing. Secondly, it seems that many of the more recent works are actually painted by a CNC Painting Machine. The process of moving paint around is programmable to a certain extent but much of the result is happenstance. Even with the controlling arduino, there's a level of expression here that is unintentional - does that make it any less art? It's a curious question worth a bit of pondering.
