Jaron Lanier Fixes The Internet

Take some time to watch these NY Times video pieces on Jaron Lanier Fixes the Internet. The technologist and futurist skillfully lays out many of the issues with the Internet - namely the conflicting overlap between Socialism (all services are free) and Capitalism (we want shiny new products), the wasted value of your personal data and how a new paradigm could fix things.
While he is able to express the problems and a possible solution very eloquently and clearly, it's not an easy undertaking. He's basically suggesting that our personal data be held within a middleman; a Mediator of Individual Data that handles your data and the payments you would receive for that data. Conceptually, it's great.. practically speaking, it's a hill to climb, without a doubt.
Highly recommend watching all of the videos, if for nothing more than just food for thought. It's curious to think of this suggested new paradigm and how it would play with something like the Brave browser or Tim Berners-Lee Solid Apps. At first glance, they certainly all seem to fit together quite nicely.
