IPv4 vs IPv6

I'd love to say that I fully grasp all the technology and politics involved with the lapse of IPv4 technology and the rise of IPv6 but I don't. I get the basics - unique IP addresses are running out based on the v4 protocol and a new standard must be adopted in order to keep up with the massive growth (enter: IPv6). There's a transition process going on as we speak which will likely prevent anyone from noticing anything (it's been in the works since 1998, plenty of time to prepare). However, I love the idea of the Internet simply being Full and ceasing to grow.. just for a little bit.
