During Whiskerino one year there was a bit of a hub bub over one of the participants going out to his neighborhood grocery stores and dumpster diving to retrieve food for his own personal use. People were disgusted at the thought of this process. After some calming down it turns out that 99% of the food being retrieved was still sealed in its original package and perfectly fine for consumption. Such is the concept behind Dive!, a documentary explaining this phenomena of trashing loads of perfectly good food. It really seems like a ton of it could go to local Rescue Missions or other people in need, as long as the food was prepared relatively soon.

I'm certainly not suggesting to feed the poor with rotten or expired goods but once you watch the trailer, you'll see that the food is top notch shape.
