Discogs, The App

I'll be totally honest here. I was excited by the announcement that Discogs was going to release an official app to supplement their massive database of record releases. I was equally bummed to learn that the app, now officially available, is just a reskinning of the Milkcrate app.

Frankly, it makes sense. Why wouldn't Milkcrate be the official app? It's built on top of the Discogs API and does what it needs to do - lets you browse and store what records you own. I was just hoping for some new and streamlined experience.

That being said, I'm happy for Discogs to have an official app and happy to see that the Milkcrate crew is getting the recognition they deserve for what they have built. Snag the app, it can only be a good thing for physical album sales and likely just a first step to a bigger, better, experience.
