Desktop Hamburger

The controversial hamburger menu has made the jump from mobile and is beginning to infect desktop designs. Spoiler alert: THIS IS A BAD IDEA.

I dunno that I'd call Desktop Hamburger a bad idea but it is most certainly a silly one. Is the hamburger a bad idea? Or is the abuse of it a way to hammer the idea of it's contents into users minds? A worthwhile debate!
