Tackling an existing design entity into something more visually pleasing is a pretty time honored design exercise. Unfortunately, most of the time you end up with a better looking product that manages to ignore all the fine details of
why the existing "poor" product is the way it is. That's not the case with this
Ticketmaster ticket redesign from
Matthew Lew. Not only does he present a more compelling keepsake for the ticket itself but he also honors the thermal printing security measures and goes as far as to add a holographic strip for added scalping defense. Will Ticketmaster take heed from this study and work up a new look? Probably not but it's a really pleasing, well thought out, read.
