CMP, JPG2000 vs JPG

I had to figure out how to open a .CMP file this morning and found myself on the LEAD Technologies website, a company that offers two new file formats.. CMP and JPEG2000. I won't go into how ridiculous it is to have developed a non-standard file format that requires a $100 plugin for anyone to view but I will point out this page; a comparison between a "standard" JPEG and JPEG2000. Correct me if I'm wrong but the "standard" jpg is a GIF! I've compressed the living hell out of an image before and in the JPEG format there is no way you're going to get color seperations like that.. only with a GIF. Way to go LEAD Technologies, lying always gets the job done.
