The goal behind
Centuries of Sound is ambitious to say the least:
Centuries of Sound is an attempt to produce a set of mixes for every year of recorded sound. Starting in 1860, a mix will be posted every month until we catch up with the present day.
It's early days at the time of this posting but the
full list of years shows that they've managed to tackle 1859-1893, surely the toughest portion to mine for examples and still create something compelling. Here's
1893 just for kicks:
