Birmingham trying to outdo the Macy's parade in the 1960s. The city's "Downtown Action Committee" decided to put on their own parade that would rival the NYC staple, despite not having the power-line clearance to actually float any balloons. While balloons on trucks is not quite as visually impressive, they did manage to make some pretty wild creations well worth a look.
