Bikini Kill With Beth Cameron

When I stumbled across Bandsplainer last year I was really smitten with it. What's not to love about a show that picks a cult band and explains their history and influence; told through the lens of host Olivia Ladd and a relevant guests insights? The season one finale tackles the legacy of Bikini Kill with insight from Beth Cameron.
I've known Beth since high school. That gives us a solid 20+ years of friendship. I saw, firsthand, how the music of Bikini Kill and other Riot Grrrl acts impacted her. Her insight on the influence of that movement is really fascinating and becomes even more potent when paired with Olivia Ladd's take; having come to the band a solid decade after Beth did.
Bikini Kill's message was one of unapologetic feminism and holds true today. It's unfortunate that the battles the band was fighting in the mid-90's are every bit as prevalent today but at least there are multiple generations working towards the right goals now.
