Attention K-mart Shoppers

Mark Davis has done a wonderful thing. During his time as a K-Mart employee from the late 80's to early 90's he decided that instead of throwing away the cassette tapes that played as in-store entertainment that he would take them home. Moreso, he decided that it'd probably be a great idea to digitize and release them, all 56 of them. You can read more about the project here or have Mark himself walk you through the collection (it's an oddly fascinating tour).
My knee jerk is to say that my enjoyment of this is nostalgia based but I didn't spend a great deal of time in K-mart as a kid nor was I really aware of much popular music / muzak at the time. This is just a fascinating bit of archiving and sharing that we could have never experienced without the wonder of the Internet and the kind folks at archive.org to house it all. So, tune yourself into Kmart October 1989 for a real treat today.
