Recently, Adobe unveiled a new tool they've been working on currently called "Edge." The software will allow the user to create animations / interfaces with timelines and tweens much like the Flash environment but with the output being HTML5. You can watch the introductory video right here. While the setup looks to be pretty useful for allowing non-developer types to create animations I can't help but embrace my inner pessimist and thinking two things:

1. There's no way the Javascript libraries / CSS output for this won't be out of control complex, hard to read and likely raging in filesize. We've seen it numerous times with Flash output, I suspect we'll see it again here.
2. The likelihood of this being used mainly for HTML5 compliant banner ads is through the roof. Currently all those ads peppered all over the web are done in Flash and can't be viewed on iOS devices - I suspect Adobe is positioning themselves to offer an alternative for that. You just wait and see.
