Ghost: Wordpress Alternative

It only exists as an idea at the moment but John Onolan's proposal for an alternative to Wordpress entitled Ghost is pretty solid. The pitch looks good and the thinking behind it is simple - Wordpress isn't laser focused on blogging anymore, let's circle the wagons and concentrate exclusively on that one portion of web publishing.

While I enjoy the pitch I think it's safe to say that this is similar to how Wordpress actually started and it just grew over time. It's not so much code bloat or scope creep as it is feeding the needs of your users. Ghost looks like a nice reset but could easily have the same fate, no?
