Environments

Whenever I go shopping for records I swing by the "Misc" section and inevitably find a slew of LP's from the Environments series. These 11 albums were recorded throughout the 70's by Irv Teibel as a means of capturing field recordings of different environments that would aid in meditation (a rainy forest, a calm seashore, an alpine blizzard). They are all over Youtube if you're interested and really do have something special about them - from the sounds they capture to the artwork.

All that being said, it was a pleasant surprise to see that Numero Group has partnered with Teibel's original label - Syntonic Research Inc. - to reissue these recordings as an app. You could stream them on Youtube but this gives you a chance to hear the best quality versions of the recordings and make playlists from them, should you want to couple your Forest sounds with your Ocean sounds.
