What I Have To Offer

Some time ago I mentioned that I needed to watch this lecture from Charlie Kaufman for the Bafta Guru series. I never got around to seeing the talk in its entirety but, fortunately, Eliot Rausch cut together this excellent impact cut of one of the finest five minutes. You need to hear it and, more importantly, think about the message within. Kaufman has a lot more to offer than just insightful, quirky scripts - this is some serious brain food for thought.

  • this is extremely good. i've listened to the whole talk a couple of times now and whilst he trails off at the end, has an incredible amount of succinctly put statements to make about not just writing but society today in general. the video makes a fantastic teaser for the entire thing, and as you say also kicks your ass enough to make a worthwhile segment in and of itself.

  • Gonna have to watch the whole thing. Kind of think there is one of two reactions a person will have - first being Kaufman is on permanent vacation - or the second being gonna have to watch the whole thing. Maybe you could have both reactions but this dude definitely gets my hamster wheel turning.
