Food Sign: 20x200

Bryan Schutmaat
20x200 has a limited edition, framed, print of Food Sign from Bryan Schutmaat. It's a lovely photo (as most of his work is) and I love the idea of having a gigantic 24" x 30" print adorning a wall somewhere in my home. It's probably not right now but that affordable 8" x 10" version is looking mighty tempting.

Thomas Prior Photography

Thomas Prior
After my post Thomas Prior I was notified by Bryan Schutmaat that there's a quality photographer of the same name. So, naturally, I checked out the work of Thomas Prior: Photographer. It's unfortunate that my posts just include the one photo to give you an idea of the content because there's no way a single image could proper encapsulate the amount of great work within this portfolio. Sure, I love this image but it's entirely different from this or this.. which I also love.

Long story short, take some time to browse through all the works.. there's too much there you don't want to miss out on.

Steve Fitch Photography

Steve Fitch
Bryan Schutmaat recently launched the photography portfolio site for Steve Fitch; a man who has been documenting the American West for many many years but, until now, has had very little online presence. I love the Diesels and Dinosaurs and Llano Estacado sets. I wish could see enormous versions of all the pieces involved in the Vernacular Assemblages but I'll take what I can get.

Long story short, lots of goodness to see - so get to it.

Photography - Peter Brown

Peter Brown
When a respected photographer friend like Bryan Schutmaat lets you know that he's helped launch the portfolio of a body of work some thirty years in the making, you take note. Peter Brown is a Houston based photographer who has been out and about documenting the world around him for a long time. His work is clean, sparse and emotive without trying. The photos I love the most are probably obvious but there is a fair amount of weirdness worth looking for as well.

The site is simple and easy to use, the work itself is gorgeous and I'm willing to bet that there's a lot more on the way worth checking out.

Tettamanti

Thanks to Bryan I've been enjoying a good deal of Joel Tettamanti's work. There are incredible photos from all over so it's tough to pinpoint the best place to start but I'd go with the Ilulissat / Greenland set and then just jump around from there.

Links of Thursday

I've got a site review tomorrow at work and I'm trying to go out of town as well. That means I'm squeezing a five day work week into four days... meaning my blog time is serious hampered today while I hunker down and get some tasks done. That being said, I hate to leave anyone in the lurch:
  • Bryan Schutmaat Tumblr - I had no idea Bryan had a Tumblr. I am quite pleased to know now.
  • That Cat House - the most well designed series of planks, overlooks and walkways for felines integrated into a home that you will ever see.
  • Messbook - I should, honestly, give this more of a post than part of a bulleted list because it's a great collection of random drawings and musings but it's all I've got time for at the moment. There's something familiar about Nebojsa Cvetkovic's work but I can't put my finger on it.
  • Dubai Skyscraper Celebration - they just opened the world's tallest skyscraper in Dubai and set off a ton of fireworks for it.. in Dubai fashion. Meaning, fireworks are shooting off the actual building and it's totally awesome.

Schutmaat Speaks

Schutmaat
It is no secret that I'm a big fan of Bryan Schutmaat. However, I've never heard his own insight regarding his work until I read through this interview. It's always interesting to hear what people cite as their influences - particularly in this case as it extends well beyond what you might expect. Certainly worth a read but if you don't fancy yourself a "reader" at least check the interview to see a nice sampling of his work.

Not that his Flickr stream isn't enough to satisfy but it's nice to see that Bryan Schutmaat has launched his official site. There are some new gems in there that I'd never encountered before and the old gems are still every bit as impressive. What's it gonna take to get a wallpaper sized print of some of these offered?

Bryan Schutmaat: Wanted

Schutmaat
Bryan Schutmaat is a bad ass with a camera - it's true. I've been a fan of his work for a long time and now apparently he's got a bunch of work up at the Wanted Gallery, all of which is for sale. It's always difficult to pick a favorite from a series of his and while Ranch View Diner has obvious draw I think I may have to go with Foggy Highway.. something very David Lynch about it.

You know, I've posted about the photography of Bryan Schutmaat many times before but after looking at his latest works I can't help but post about him again. I love everything about the photos he takes and think you should probably take a moment to enjoy them as well.

1000 Words Photography

1000 Words
Bryan clued me in to the online magazine 1000 Words Photography and I must thank him for it. Their current issue is an impressive collection of works from a variety of photographers. I particularly enjoyed the pieces from Olaf Otto Becker and Candida Hofer.

Once you've given that a proper browse I suggest checking out the magazines blog for more treats.
