Make-out With Violence the LP
I have long
championed the work of
Make-Out with Violence, a locally produced, directed, shot semi-horror film, semi-love story - specifically, I can never get enough of the
soundtrack. The
Non-Commissioned Officers are responsible for the massive 44-song undertaking - a feat few highly established bands can pull off as effectively as they do. Recently, a shortened version of said soundtrack became
available on LP. Given that it's vinyl the entire soundtrack had to be cut down a little bit but they certainly chose a great deal of the best songs at hand.
In summation, I love this soundtrack and can't imagine any regular visitors to this site not enjoying it as well. So, why not
procure it in wax and watch the movie
on Netflix while you're at it.

Non-Commissioned Officers Lake Fever Session
I have done
plenty of
gushing over the soundtrack to the film
Make-Out with Violence and the band responsible for it,
The Non-Commissioned Officers, so when
Lake Fever Sessions were looking for acts to book I was extremely pleased to be able to get the band in for a proper recording. The
session debuted on the Interwebs yesterday and it turned out great!
Of the three available songs I'd say that "Spidertown" is probably the least immediately grabbing on but I can't recommend diving into "Ride" and "Turn Me Down and Fade Me Out" enough! Please, by all means, go
partake!

Non-Commisioned Officer Videos
Anyone who has read this blog with any semblance of regularity knows that I'm a bit of an
overzealous fan when it comes to the soundtrack for the film
Make-Out with Violence. The 44 track epic is performed by the band
The Non-Commissioned Officers and there isn't a single minute of it I don't like. So, when I
saw that the band had released three videos featuring footage from the movie I dropped everything I was doing and watched them all. I am suggesting you do the same and if you haven't bought the
soundtrack yet, you really are depriving yourself.

Make-Out with Violence: OST
Previously, I have
gushed about the music for the film
Make-Out with Violence and my anticipation for the full-length soundtrack to be released. Turns out, the wait is over. If you head over to the
official site you will see that the 2-disc, 44-track, 2+ hour endeavor is now available for a paltry $15. That's a helluva deal if I've ever seen one.
If you still need convincing, please, immediately go
download the
Let's Get Awesome EP and the tracks below... knowing that even with these songs at your command, there are thirty-seven
more tracks worth hearing. I realize that sounds a bit overwhelming but I really believe it's worth your time.

Things to Listen To
A few years ago I was given a burned CD of music intended for the movie
Make-Out With Violence. I have listened to said CD no less than three hundred times. I didn't think the music would ever be released in any official capacity but according to the films
official site you can now download an EP of tracks from the movie; with the full soundtrack on the way. Obviously I can't recommend enough going to
get this right away.
And The Relatives are easily in my top 5 of best local acts so I was quite pleased when they informed me they wanted to start posting demo's of their upcoming album on their
site. Granted, they aren't the fleshed out final versions but it's nice that there will be an influx of new stuff from them while they are in the process of recording. Go
snag the first one, "Bereavement", now.
It should also be noted that I am responsible for the bands site.. I took it upon myself to throw together a few pages and give them the ability to post these demos. If that's not the definition of a fanboy, I'm not sure what is.

Make-Out with Violence Premiere
I've been reading about / anticipating the release of
Make Out with Violence for a number of years now. Oddly, my introduction to the film was through the soundtrack - a piece of work that stills finds a good amount of playtime on a regular basis. After long last the film will debut tomorrow at the
Belcourt - playing at both 6:30 and 8:45.
I'm going in with all expectations chucked out the window. Even after watching the
trailer and the
making of I know that I have no idea what to expect. However, if the film is half as good as the soundtrack I originally received, we'll be in business.

Making Make Out With Violence
A group of local filmmakers has been working on a full-length film entitled
Make-Out with Violence for a number of years now and just recently put together a nice 'behind the scenes' featurette on what was going on with their endeavour. I am excited to see the film but it's going to have to be finished before that actually happens...
So far all I can attest to in regards to the film is the bits and pieces of the original soundtrack that I've been fortunate enough to hear (courtesy of
The Non Commissioned Officers or some variant of that name). I've included these songs on previous mixes before but I suggest nabbing them now if you've managed to miss out on them before now...

MAKE OUT with VIOLENCE
The fleshed out movie site for
MAKE-OUT with VIOLENCE has been launched. Aside from having a nice central place to watch a high quality version of the trailer, you can also preview music from the soundtrack - which I highly suggest you do immediately. The songs are some of the best I've heard all year (maybe some of the best in several years). The movie is now fully shot and switched into editing / post production mode. I look forward to its release.. but while I'm waiting I will be attending the Lazer Man and the Non-Commissioned Officers shows around town (the band behind the soundtrack). I suggest going to see them at The Mercy Lounge next Wednesday, the 16th. You won't be disappointed.
