It's that time again! Load up the playlist and enjoy the slacking off from work. I've got some treats in store for next week to, hopefully, wrap up the year but, for now, enjoy the weekly goods.
Old Spice - Motorcycle - It is remarkable how great the ad campaigns for Old Spice are; especially considering that I've zero interest in the product. You know you created something great when a customer wants to watch your advertisement over and over. Amazing.
Haboob Swallows Phoenix - do you know what a Haboob is? Did you know that they aren't that uncommon in the dryer parts of Arizona and New Mexico? Do you understand how terrifying they appear to be?
Titanic: The Animated Movie - this trailer brings up so many question it's difficult to wrap your brain around. Why does it exist? Why is there a fun loving kids movie based on an enormous disaster? Why is there a rapping schnauzer? Why is his backing band comprised of stereotyped mice? Why, Why, Why? via Paul.
Geek Love TLC - there is a fine line between laughing with someone and laughing at someone. I'm not sure where the new TLC Geek Love show falls but it seems like something we should all watch in order to decide.
Priceless Hippo - your level of enjoyment of this is a good gauge of your maturity levels. Me? I'm about 8 years old because I loved it. (Please note, this occurrence is not uncommon in Hippos but it is hilarious).
Drive Recklessly - an educational PSA on the dangers of speeding. Would you rather save 30 seconds or a life?
Cheers - NORMisms - it's been many years since I've watched Cheers.. this Supercut is a nice reminder that we all need to revisit it.
I Gave My Kids a Terrible Present - Jimmy Kimmel gets parents to trick their kids for the benefit of late night TV again. The results are hilarious but I can't imagine doing this to your child; some of them seem incredibly upset! Fortunately, you know they'll forget.
Waving Bear - you will watch this on repeat for the remainder of the day.
From this point forward, you should start every day of your life with a quick visit to Procatinator - a brilliantly curated mash-up of hilarious cat gifs and perfectly matched songs. You can also follow them on Twitter but, really, all you need is a good dose of the site.
I can't help but think I'm overlooking some grand video with this weeks playlist but I'll just have to forge ahead and know that, more than likely, you're getting your video entertainment from a wealth of sources.* I digress, here's the breakdown of goods:
Bizzle Gets Some Dunkers - I find this whole dog as human setup absolutely hysterical. I mean, this is Internet Classic as far as I'm concerned and I'd like to see this grow and flourish into a proper meme onslaught.
Community, Parks and Rec style - maybe Community's ratings would improve if they'd just confuse their opening sequence with Parks and Rec. Maybe the whole slew of Thursday night shows should go this route. I'd be into it.
Muller Ad 2011 - there is so much going on here it's hard to wrap your brain around it. Knight Rider and Yogi Bear are just the beginning of the bafflement. via Tromant.
Dog Disco - everything I know about Disco does not apply to this.
The Simpsons - 300 - Need a 3D animation project? Why not blend your favorite Simpsons characters with a much mocked scene from 300? The results are.. well, incomprehensible.
Amazing Amazon Box - if your Amazon package is ever late, imagine it spent a good 48 hours going through this ordeal.
The Size of Texas - hilarious mockery of End of the World genre movies; particularly by asteroid. The two second Danny Jelinek cameo made my day. Oh, also, it was shot by my friend Blake - double bonus!
Tribute to Drive - nice animation paying tribute to the quiet brutality of one of this years favorites.
Mural at the Ace Hotel - I don't think I'll ever tire of time lapse animations of hand drawn type. This example is simple and elegant - right on the money.
Nashville residents should heavily consider going out to the Holiday Porter Flea Market at the East Park Rec Center.. looks to be a good time. Non-Nashville residents, just be jealous!
Have a great weekend.
Totally forgot to include this gem - hilarious for a number of reasons; including the notion that "kissing" is included in the definition of virginity and, obviously, the actual kiss.
There's a fun project going on over at the Harvey James blog in which he takes it upon himself to illustrate what he believes the host of a podcast looks like based entirely on their voice and, then, an accompanying illustration of what they actually look like. The Marc Maron entry is hilarious because of the disparity between perception and reality but it's still pretty accurate. The Scott Aukerman feels oddly accurate from either side. Looking forward to more of these fer sure.
File this under: Things I Probably Shouldn't Post About But Can't Help Myself. Yesterday I was informed of the existence of the Caganer, a small figurine with roots in Catalonia typically included in a nativity scene that depicts an innocent act of defecation. Seriously, it's a cute little statue taking a poo in the middle of a holy scene. It's absurd, ridiculous and hilarious. And, turns out, there are a ton of them depicting famous people. You want Michael Jackson or Queen Elizabeth as a Caganer in your nativity scene doing their thing? You Got It.
Spread the word.. you just found yourself the worlds best stocking stuffer.
Remember this phenomenal Halloween costume from a few years ago? Eric Testroete really went all out in creating his giant paper head rendition of himself and it still looks impressive to check in on it now. If you're interested in doing something similar for yourself this weekend you can always fire up this application to create a C-level version of the original concept.
Okay, so you won't actually use this for a Halloween costume but the images it creates are hilarious. So, do yourself that favor at the very least.
If you need a palette cleanser after that last post, I understand. Just point your browser to this video of Child Star Psychologist Kiernan Shipka - aka Sally Draper from Mad Men. Kiernan sits down with a few child actors to get inside their problems and it's quality entertainment. I can't decide which segment is my favorite so I deem them all hilarious. Good work Funny or Die!

Where's the Octopus? - I've seen this footage of Roger Hanlon encountering an incredibly stealthy octopus in the wild but the follow-up / science behind the way the camouflage technique is absolutely fascinating. If the color shifting wasn't mind-blowing enough be sure to familiarize yourself with the Mimic Octopus.
I do my best to avoid posting every little Star Wars related thing to crosses my desk but, occasionally, an item pops up that can't be denied. As you likely know, the original Star Wars films are being re-released on Blu-Ray and Lucas made a few more "creative" edits - you can read about them all here. Among them is the addition of Vader screaming No in the climax of Jedi. Aside from being dumb and unnecessary it's also hilarious.
Long story short, CineWeekly took it upon themselves to stick that scream into other Classic Movies. The results are perfect.
Yahoo "open" to sale - this is entirely rumor but every time I hear about Yahoo considering giving up the ghost I get a little lift that maybe that means they'll sell off Flickr to some passionate team and make it relevant again.
CSS3 Rainbow Dividers - hilarious bit of advanced markup to make your pages look like 1997.
Please take a few moments to watch this clever video from Tom Scharpling for The Ettes track "Excuse" (off their new album Wicked Will - packaging designed by Rachel Briggs!). The video is introduced by Patton Oswalt, as Sharpling, and continues from there with the funny. Personally, I'm partially to the sequence featuring Jem befriending Kryptor the Eldor but every sequence is quite amusing.
