Typing Genius = Emoji

Typically I would recommend installing an iPhone app such as Typing Genius; a typing trainer to help speed up your times with the digital keyboard. However, this particular app has one aspect to it that is worthy of note - it enables you to unlock the Japanese keyboard set and the 400+ Emoji that come with it. Granted, the appeal is total novelty and the characters don't translate to email or anyone without an iPhone running 2.2 but that's beside the point. The point is this. More examples here.
