This article about autonomous robots powering warehouses for increased efficiency and decreased energy consumption is fascinating. Quotes such as this are undeniably beneficial:

"The Zappos guys claim that from the moment you put your order in and it is submitted to the time the box is on the dock and ready to be put on a truck is 12 minutes."

Even the video that goes along with it is an informative watch (nice to see the robots in action) but there's always a downside to robots taking on the tasks of humans. Case and point:

"A big chunk of the benefit comes from the fact that we've eliminated all of the walking."

I'm all for increased efficiency but we need to heed the lessons taught to us from the almighty Pixar or we may live to regret it.
